    Description

Fabulous Daguerreotype Of Identified Young Man.
This auction is for a sixth plate daguerreotype of J. Adam Furnas.  The image was taken on July 3, 1856.  A period identification paper is tucked behind the image.  He was 18 years old when this image was taken.  He is a striking young man with bright eyes and light hair.
Furnas is well documented and joined company A, 44th. Ohio Volunteer Infantry in 1861. He then mustered-out in 1864 to join what appears to be the 8th. Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. That is fuzzy because by 1864 it could have been the 8th. Ohio Veteran Volunteer Cavalry. He mustered out in Columbus in 1865.
The daguerreotype is sharp with no wipes.   He is in a half case.
Note:   Final 2 pics are of Furnas' CDV and his grave...both borrowed from Find A Grave.   Obviously not included in sale.  Sale is for the daguerreotype only.   If I knew how to add his dag to Find a Grave, I would.   Thank you to the person who wrote and told me about this.
